For 73 years, First Presbyterian Church has shown a kaleidoscope of cultures and countries during their annual World Missions Conference. This five-day event, Oct. 9-13, invites its church members, friends and the public to learn from First Pres’s extensive network of missionaries and how they’ve dedicated their lives to spreading the gospel world-wide, even in hostile environments.
“We want people to understand how world missions works, straight from the source,” said Rev. Randy Nabors, pastor of missions at First Pres.
“It’s one of the main facets of our mission here at First Pres.”
The conference boasts a variety of events for all ages, from evening worship services, to “speed-dating” with missionaries at Coolidge Park, to casual morning coffee gatherings.
This year’s keynote speaker is denominational leader Dr. Irwyn Ince, coordinator of Mission to North America and adjunct professor of pastoral theology for Reformed Theological Seminary.
“He is one of the most gifted preachers, teachers and pastors I have ever met,” said Senior Pastor Dr. Gabriel N.E. Fluhrer. “Whether you’re a Christian or you’re curious about the lives of missionaries, you will not want to miss this conference and the rich times of fellowship and teaching it affords.”
