In a post in the Louisiana Illuminator (1/24), Keith Edgerton says as a historian he is drawn to our past to look at parallels as he outlined the collapse of the Whig Party. He attempted to make a connection to Republicans citing events of Jan. 6 and Donald Trump’s loss in 2020 as evidence.

What were the crimes Joe pardoned Hunter for doing after saying he wouldn’t? What did Fauci, the general and those on the Pelosi show trial do to get 11th hour pardons? Joe opined about appointing Merrick Garland who he said was too slow prosecuting Trump (Guardian 12/28/24) after numerous claims that the prosecution wasn’t political.
In his farewell address, Joe lamented on the fragility of democracy. After these past four years of catastrophes and hoaxes, I see how that is possible and now wonder if he’s mindlessly steered his party the way of the Whigs?
