William Carter Lackey
William Carter Lackey, 83, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
William was born on Nov. 8, 1941, in Chattanooga, to the late Joseph and Cora Lackey. William attended Howard High School and enlisted in the Navy. After his tour with the Navy, William returned to Chattanooga and worked at Lockheed.
William eventually completed his work career with U.S. Pipe in Chattanooga as a welder. Throughout his life, William could be found riding around in one of his hot rod sport cars listening to music; both he thoroughly enjoyed.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Lackey and James Lackey.
Survivors to cherish his memory include his brother, John R. Lackey, Chattanooga; nephew, Michael Smith; aunt, Mae Emma Lackey of Lyerly, Ga.; long-time companion and friend of 56 years, Janet Moore.
Public viewing will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, followed immediately by the funeral service in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. Gate time is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
