The Chattanooga Bar Association held its 127th Annual Meeting on Wednesday at The Westin. Sponsoring the event were: HHM, CPA's, Pinnacle Financial Partners, AIM (Attorneys Insurance Mutual of the South), Lexitas, Hamilton Count Herald and IPSCO.
The CBA Membership voted in new Board Members for 2025. Serving on the Executive Committee are Mark W. Litchford (2025 CBA Board President); Steve Smith (Outgoing 2024 Board President); Keith Grant (Board President-Elect), Katherine Lentz (Board Secretary) and Robin Miller (Board Treasurer); Board Members are: Larry Cash, Zack England, Everett "Bo" Hixson, C. Scott Johnson, Lance Pope, Nicole Watson and Young Lawyers Representative Mary Frances Devoe.
Annual Meeting Awards Presentations
RALPH H. KELLEY HUMANITARIAN AWARD - In a Resolution set forth on Sept. 17, 1993, this award is to be given to that member of the legal profession or judicial officer who has displayed exemplary service to the community of Chattanooga by civic, professional and/or other activities directed toward improvement and preservation of the lives, property and dignity of its citizens. Criteria for the award includes: member in good standing of the Chattanooga Bar Association or a Judicial Officer; a minimum of 15 years’ tenure in the Chattanooga legal community; and recognized community service with emphasis on social service of both public and charitable nature, as set forth in the resolution establishing the award. The Ralph H. Kelley Humanitarian Award was presented by Hugh Moore to Honorable Tom Greenholtz, Court of Criminal Appeals.
PRESIDENT’S AWARD - The President’s Award is given to the person who has most helped the President in his/her year in office. The President’s Award was presented by the Steve Smith to Mark Litchford of Litchford, Pearce & Associates.
JAC CHAMBLISS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - This award is presented to a member who has demonstrated the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession; facilitate access to the justice system; served and supported the community; stimulated a feeling of respect, esteem and good fellowship among the members of the profession; maintained a high standard of ethics; represented the highest tradition of personal and professional excellence in Hamilton County; and has devoted significant amounts of time, efforts to activities that benefit the community and enhance the image and esteem of attorneys in Hamilton County. The Jac Chambliss Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by Michael K. Alston to Alan Cates of Husch Blackwell.
ALBERT L. HODGE AWARD - This award is given to an attorney with exemplary volunteer service to the Chattanooga Bar Association and the legal community. The Albert L. Hodge Volunteer Award was presented by Steve Smith to Robin Miller, clerk and master of Chancery Court.
HARRY WEILL ZEALOUS PRACTICE OF LAW AWARD - This award is presented annually to a member of the Bar whose energetic and enthusiastic service to clients is worthy of praise, and whose polite and dignified manner, even in the most contentious situations, provides a model of civility that is worthy of emulation. The Harry Weill Zealous Practice of Law Award was presented by Cindy Hall to Art Brock of Spears Moore Rebman Williams.
The YOUNG LAWYERS DIVISION AWARD – The Young Lawyers Division presented the YLD Volunteer Award to Claire Tuley of Husch Blackwell.
