New Hope Presbyterian Church announces its 50th anniversary celebration, with a special event on Feb. 23. For five decades, New Hope has been a cornerstone of the community, fostering spiritual growth, demonstrating love in action, and serving those in need.
The anniversary celebration will kick off a year of festivities on Feb. 23, with worship and a catered lunch at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 7608 Shallowford Road.
In the lead-up to the anniversary, New Hope launched "50 for 50," a program of 50 service opportunities designed to engage the congregation and the wider community in acts of service. Since Feb. 2, a different service project is highlighted each week, reflecting the church's mission of "Growing together in faith, love and service."
"Our 50th Anniversary kick-off is fast approaching," said Pastor Candace Worth. "The Session has put together a mix of collections, actions, donations and skill sharing opportunities. I know a project a week may seem daunting, but I am sure that with God’s help we can accomplish God’s calling.”
The congregation and the wider community are encouraged to participate and share their experiences each Sunday. Here are a few examples of the "50 for 50" projects:
Feb. 23: Special Offering for Church World Service (https://cwsglobal.org/)
March 2: Collect beans and rice for Chattanooga Area Food Bank (https://chattfoodbank.org/home)
