Neal A. Robinson, M.D., 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at his residence.

Born on September 14, 1935, to the late William Chester and Sarah Virginia Sittel Robinson, he has been a resident of Chattanooga for the past 41 years.

Dr. Robinson was educated at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts and later attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR where he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1957 and was elected to Tau Beta Pi -Engineering Honor Society.

He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, Litle Rock, AR where he received his M.D. degree in 1963 and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (Medical Honor Society).

His did his medical residency at Broadlawns, Polk County Hospital in Des Moines, IA from 1963 – 1965 and his American Academy of Family Practice Board certification from 1965-1996.

A veteran of the U.S. Army and reservist, he served as 1st LT and Capt. of the Army Medical Corps from 1963-1965.

During his career Dr. Robinson served as Staff Engineer, Sandia Corp. in Albuquerque, NM from 1957-1958; was in Private Practice in Eustis, FL from 1965-1984; Staff Physician at the DuPont Corp, in Chattanooga, TN from 1985-1996; Medical Director of Independent Living Aids in Ringgold, GA from 2003-2009; and served as Medical Consultant to Medical Suppliers from 2009-2018.

Dr. Robinson served as Volunteer Physician at the Chattanooga Homeless Healthcare Clinic from 1996-2003; and was a Volunteer Physician at Chattanooga Volunteers in Medicine Clinic in Chattanooga from 2009-2020.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he sang in the sanctuary choir and also served in the Metanoia Ministry of the church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife in 1977, Nancy Kay McDonald Robinson.

Dr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Joan Fisher Herringshaw Robinson; children, Timothy Scott Robinson, of Smyrna, GA, Holly Kay Robinson, of Grand Island, FL, Laura Lynn (Kevin) Whitworth, of Worden, IL, and Lincoln Todd (Kathleen) Robinson, of Hixson, TN; 12 grandchildren;

9 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Robinson enjoyed every day of life and was especially grateful for the grace, mercy, and forgiveness of Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit.

He gives profound thanks to his wife Beverly, his most wonderful earthly gift from God. She graced him with her love and friendship every day of their life together. And the members of his family, and to the many friends, who over the years have enriched his days beyond measure.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nathan Malone and Rev. David Hall officiating.
