Joseph “Joe” L. Sharp, 87, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1937, to the late Henry and Clara Hudson Sharp. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from DuPont. He loved working in his garden and watching Tennessee football. More than anything, Joe loved spending time and making lasting memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church.

Including his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Elsie Swafford Sharp and by 14 of his siblings.

Survivors include his son, Bobby (Angie) Sharp; daughter, Melinda Shipley; grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew) Ager, Leann Hayes, Kristen (Junior) Presley and Kiowa Temple; great-grandchildren, Elsie and Isla Ager, Elaina Dixon and Adaline Dowden; sister, Louise (Euell) Barnes; sister-in-law, Mildred Sharp; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12~2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with Brother Danny Ruehling officiating.
