William Gary Tucker, 79 of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

He was born in Shelbyville, Tn., on Feb. 19, 1945, to the late Bob and Penny Tucker. Gary graduated from Brainerd High School, Vanderbilt University, the University of Chattanooga and the Mercer School of Pharmacy, graduating first in his class.

He served with the Army Reserves and the Tennessee National Guard. Gary played professional football for the Miami Dolphins from 1967 to 1969. He owned the Shallowford Prescription Center for 20 years. Gary enjoyed hang gliding, gardening and the great outdoors.

Including his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Tucker.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Andrea Tucker; son, Beau Tucker; daughters, Jacy (Jeremy) Copeland, Kami Edwards and Leah Sergeant; brother Robert (Sherry) Tucker; sister, Amy Tucker; sons-in-law, Chris Edwards and Scott Sergeant and nine grandchildren.

The family requests that memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 651 East 4th Street, Suite 200, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403, in his honor.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
