Shirley Horton, 89, of Ringgold, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

She was born on February 17, 1936, in Chattanooga, TN to parents Earl and Vena McAlister. Shirley was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area.

She loved all flowers and enjoyed making Christmas ornaments. Shirley was a collector of teapots. Her family shared that she was a wonderful cook who loved cooking for holidays. A couple of their favorites were fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be missed dearly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, J.B. Horton; parents, Earl and Vena McAlister; daughter, Debra Horton; and two siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Steve (Brenda) Horton, Terrell (Pam) Horton, and Kathy (Franklin) Cobos; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga for all the love, kindness and support shown to Shirley while she was in their care.

A chapel service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 4 p.m. with Mickey Garcia officiating. There will be a private interment at Lakewood Memory Garden South.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 2 p.m. until the service hour of 4 p.m.

All arrangements have been made by Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel in Rossville, GA.
