The school board needs to show some intestinal fortitude regarding cell phones in schools.
Our schools fail to educate today's Hamilton County youth in many of our schools. I cannot say cell phones are the leading cause of this failure, but I’m sure they play a role in the failure.
You can be sure some students have their cell phones out during class and are not participating in class or paying attention to the instruction. There is no doubt about the disruption they cause.
As for the parents who say they need to stay in touch with their child, get over it. Your precious darling is in school to learn.
Of course, each child’s silenced cell phone could be placed in a rack as they enter each class and picked up as they exit. This arrangement should alleviate any issues with cell phones. It would still allow the doting parents access to their little darlings.
So, school board, it’s time to do your job.

Cell phones should not be in school at all. If cell phones are put somewhere during class times they are not out of minds of children. Leave the phones at home.. School is for learning.

As a reply to Superintendent Dr. Justin Roberson stated in an estimation of $500,000 to purchase pouches for students with phones - to avoid wasting tax dollars and federal funding on education expenses as a compromise... I would like to propose a thought of placing an age limit on purchased phones for school-aged children.
