For the second year in a row the Chattanooga Christian School boys soccer team won the Smoky Mountain Cup, earning two shutout wins and one tie.
On Thursday in Gatlinburg, CCS played McGill-Toolen, AL winning 5-0. Goals were scored by Urban Tucker (2), Josh Grant, Ethan Regis, and Bennett Cook. Assists by Josh Grant (2), Ephraim McGhee, Urban Tucker, and Tyler Nardy.
In their second game on Friday, the Chargers played Cornerstone Christian from San Antonio, Texas. Chargers went down early but scored in the 77th minute to equalize the contest. Urban Tucker scored from an Ethan Regis assist. The game ended 1-1.
In their final match of the tournament, Chargers played nationally ranked Westminster School of Augusta, GA. Chargers dominated for majority of the game while creating several dangerous chances throughout the match. In the 70th minute, Carter Wilson scored from an Urban Tucker assist.
CCS keeper JT Tolson finished the weekend with two shutouts and only one goal conceited.
“I’m very pleased with how we played this weekend," CCS head coach Tyler Robertson said. "The boys are working hard and coming into to each game with the proper mindset that allows them to be in position to get results. I’m proud of how the boys responded beating a tough Westminster side after not playing our best as a team Friday evening”
Chargers move to 8-0-1 on the season and play again at CCS Thursday against Loudon.
