Worked As A Nurse, Loved The Lord, And Was Proud Of Her Family

LaVerne Holloway, 69, of Rossville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

LaVerne graduated from Ambassador Christian High School in Downey, Ca., in 1973 as valedictorian of her class. She was a longtime resident of Snyder, Tx., and while living in Texas she received her Nursing Degree from Western Texas College. LaVerne was a member of the Snyder Church of God in Snyder, Tx. She was part of the Ladies Group who raised money to pay off the church by cooking pies and peanut brittle. People would come from all around to purchase these pies. LaVerne lived in Rossville, for the past two years and she became a member of James Street Church of God.

Throughout the years LaVerne worked as a nurse in the health care industry and most recently she enjoyed working with Door Dash which helped her fund her trips that she enjoyed going on. LaVerne enjoyed spending time and playing BINGO with her friends at the Rossville Senior Center. She was also known for her cooking, sewing, and adopting numerous animals over the years including raccoons, squirrels, skunks, and turkeys. Most of all, LaVerne loved the Lord, and she was so proud of her family. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Nathan Pyburn and Johnnie Pyburn; and brother, Joseph Pyburn.

Survivors include her children, Eddie R. Bolin Jr. (Dana) of Ringgold, GA and Rachel Ellenburg of Rossville, GA; step-children, Jerry Don Holloway of Angleton, TX and Amanda Lomas of Roscoe, TX; brother, John Pyburn of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Tommie Reynolds of Snyder, TX; three grandchildren, Zachery Brogdon, Aaron Brogdon, and Reagan Bolin; step-grandchildren, Brody Holloway, Kinley Holloway, Ryan Lomas, and Jasmine Lomas; special friend, Grayson Perkins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Memory of LaVerne Holloway at https://donate.cancer.org. If you wish to send flowers you may have them delivered to the funeral home on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 30, at 4:30 p.m. at Burning Bush Baptist Church, 2195 Burning Bush Road, Ringgold, Ga. 30736, with Pastor Dennis McNulty, Dr. Joseph Frejosky, and Rev. Lawrence Bradford officiating.

Interment will follow in the Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery with Thaed Gunn, Mark Lewis, Michael Scott, Jerry Pelfrey, John West, and Fred Oaks serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday at Burning Bush Baptist Church from 2-4 p.m.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at 833 Chickamauga Ave Rossville, GA 30741.
