Jereline Harvey Sanders, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, after a brief illness.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1941, to Viola Harvey Greer and George Greer. Jereline attended Howard High School and was a member of Greater Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

A blues lover, Jereline lived a life of fulfillment for her family and friends. As a teenager, she became guardian to her siblings to ensure they all remained united even as she navigated young parenthood. This proved to be the role she held throughout her life as she nurtured both family and wayward acquaintances over the years that followed. As the Matriarch of a predominately female family, Jereline showed them all how to survive and thrive in a man’s world.

She was employed by the 3M Company before tapping into her tremendous cooking skills to become a key person at Dino’s Supper Club, and eventually head baker at Provident. She operated the popular social spot, Jereline’s on 8th Street before opening Jereline’s Beauty Shop in Hixson, Jereline’s Lounge on 9th Street, and Jereline’s Beauty Bazaar on South Market. In addition, Jereline also owned or partnered with Stella’s Clothing on Wilcox, and D’s Soul Food; and was a silent force behind Blassco/BlassDoll Distribution.

Jereline was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Leola Smith; cousin, “Uncle” Grady Wyatt; brothers, Norman Harvey, and Maurice Harvey; and sister, Sarah Harvey Spivey.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Nettie Harvey; daughters, Dolline (Michael) Blassingame and Pamela Bone; grandchildren, Sonja (French) Moore, Kia (Aaron) Atkinson, Kenneth Cortez (Mallory) Bone, and Kevin Rowe-Blassingame; great grands, C.J. Tibbs, Asja Pouncy, and Kayla Tibbs; great-great grand, Kadence Jackson; godson, Charles Penny; a host of nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, Bobbie Harris and Bessie Lovelace.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.

Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7, at Forest Hills Cemetery.
