CADAS announces the groundbreaking of a new sober living apartment building, made possible by a $500,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and a $600,000 grant from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. These funds will go towards building 16 sober living apartments.
"This significant funding underscores the state’s recognition of CADAS’ vital role in addressing addiction and supporting recovery within our community," officials said.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Friday, March 21 at 10 a.m.
at 207-B Spears Ave. in Chattanooga. Local officials, community members and stakeholders are invited to join CADAS in celebrating this important step toward expanding recovery resources in the area.
Officials said, "All 16 apartments will target low-income housing and will be vouchered through the Chattanooga Housing Authority. The new facility is designed to provide a supportive environment for individuals in recovery. These apartments will serve as a crucial resource for those transitioning from treatment programs, helping them to reintegrate into society while receiving the support they need to maintain their sobriety."
"We are excited to break ground on this much-needed sober living facility," said Brad Franks, senior director of operations.
"The generous grants from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and the Tennessee Housing Development Agency allow us to expand our services and create a nurturing environment for individuals in recovery. Special thanks also for the support of the Chattanooga Housing Authority on this project as well, with all three playing a vital role," said Paul Fuchcar, executive director.
Officials said, "CADAS has long provided effective and compassionate care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The new sober living apartments will not only offer a safe space for residents but will also foster community connections and provide essential resources for ongoing recovery.
"This initiative is a testament to CADAS’ commitment to addressing the challenges of addiction and supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. The new apartments will play a pivotal role in empowering residents to build healthy, sustainable lives."
