Jeni Turner shares her testimony at the Worthy Now event
Lee University hosted “Worthy Now: Stand With Your Sister,” a conference for women of all ages. The theme for this semester’s event was “Prayer and Popcorn,” designed to showcase the unity of female Christians in their struggles.
“We wanted the women on campus to know they are not isolated in their experiences and the other young women on this campus can rally together and support one another,” said Mary-Chrislyn Gray, event committee member and Lee University coordinator of events. “We believe this event was eye opening for them to see just how many of their peers have been through similar experiences.”
During the event, Jeni Turner, McNair Scholars Program coordinator, shared with the women in attendance her testimony and a message centered on Ecclesiastes 4:12, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Following this, participants took part in a questionnaire demonstration designed to promote unity, showing that no one is alone in their struggles.
“This powerful night encapsulated honesty, vulnerability, shared need, and the support of sisters to both stand for and stand with one another. I was truly honored to be a part,” said Ms. Turner.
The event closed with prayer and a time of worship, after which attendees were invited to a popcorn bar to promote continued fellowship following the event.
“Worthy Now: ‘Stand With Your Sister,’ was awe-inspiring,” said Sarah Hines, a sophomore theology major and event participant. “My heart grew tender as I saw the vastness of need in the community of women around me, and my vision grew clearer as prayerful fellowship revealed the willingness and compassion extended. I saw bodies unified as we ultimately became one body with Christ.”
“Worthy Now” is dedicated to encouraging the women at Lee to embrace their worth, empower others to do the same, and inspire the calling on their lives.
