Jeanne “Jean” Marie VanSickle Mazgaj
Jeanne “Jean” Marie VanSickle Mazgaj, 80, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Born in Minnesota, Jean spent her early childhood in Clarence, NY and young adulthood in Lancaster, NY before moving to Knoxville, in 1981. Her life was spent helping others in need and making memories with her cherished family and friends. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Patricia VanSickle, and her brothers, Robert VanSickle and Paul VanSickle.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Stanley Mazgaj, her daughter, Michele Sanborn (Chris), her son, Michael Mazgaj, brother Larry VanSickle (Jane), sister Nancy Mandolene (Jeff), and grandchildren, Morgan Sanborn, Reagan Sanborn, and Colton Sanborn.
A mass of intention will be said in her honor on Sunday, May 18, at 8 a.m. at the St. Jude Catholic Church at 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415. Jean will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in her honor to the Erlanger Foundation Women’s Cancer Center at www.erlangerfoundation.org.
