Betty June Matteson Harvey Burns, age 92, passed away to the arms of Jesus on May 2, 2025.

She was born February 24, 1933 to parents Andrew and Nannie Matteson.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, W.M. Jackson Harvey, son, Steve Harvey, siblings, W.M. “Bill” Matteson and Leola Legg and her late husband, Pete Burns.

She was a strong, kind Christian of the Baptist faith.

Centering her entire life around the Lord, family and friends.

She set an example of staying the course of always putting God and others before herself.

Praying daily for the family. She loved and cherished her dear friends.

Betty taught at Daisy Elementary for over 20 years.

She is survived by her son, Danny (Carol) Harvey and daughter, Candy (Jerry) Newman, grandchildren, Bill (Whitney) Harvey, Drew (Ashton) Newman and Katie (David) Poe, great grandchildren, Jack Harvey, Finn and Otis Newman and Stevie Lynne Poe, and sister in laws, Betty Harvey Johnson and Peggy Harvey Irwin. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to George and Daphne from the Dayton team of Hospice of Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev, Alan Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
