Dr. Daniel Glover
Dr. Daniel Glover, assistant professor of New Testament, has been named the recipient of Lee University’s 2025 Excellence in Scholarship Award. He was honored during the university’s spring commencement.
“Dr. Glover is one of those rare Lee faculty who successfully balances a demanding teaching load with active research and scholarly writing,” said Lee University President Dr. Paul Conn. “He consistently finds creative ways to bring his research into the classroom, which is the ultimate goal of scholarship at Lee.”
The Excellence in Scholarship Award is one of three faculty excellence awards recognizing teaching, scholarship, and advising. They are considered the highest honors bestowed on Lee faculty each year. The winner of this award is chosen by the Faculty Scholarship and Research Committee.
“I first learned to love researching while a student at Lee,” said Dr. Glover. “Now, as a faculty member, I have continued to be inspired and motivated by my brilliant colleagues, and I feel deeply honored to receive this award.”
Dr. Glover joined Lee’s School of Theology and Ministry in 2021. His research specializes in ancient Mediterranean religion, especially in the areas of deification, ancient philosophy, and early Christianity. In addition to many scholarly articles and reviews, Dr. Glover’s publications include two monographs, “Patterns of Deification in the Acts of the Apostles” and “Jesus & Other Sons of God: Luke’s Christology and Mediterranean Myth.” His published work has garnered international attention and earned him an invitation to contribute to a scholarly conference in Gazzada, Italy, this summer.
Dr. Glover is an active member of several scholarly societies, including the Enoch Seminar and the Society of Biblical Literature, where he often gives presentations. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Baylor University, his Master of Theological Studies from Duke University, and his Bachelor of Arts from Lee.
