Mrs. Jewell Edna Gazaway Pilcher, age 77, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday afternoon July 27, 2025 at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jesse Silvers.
Jewell was born March 4, 1948, in Dalton, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Edna Mae Roach Gazaway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Pilcher, on July 22, 2022; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Gazaway, Willard Gazaway, George and Vernie Gazaway, Mary Lee Gazaway and Marlene Gazaway.
Jewell was retired from Shaw Industries.
She is survived by her son, David Carter of Dalton, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Marvin Howell of Wears Valley, Tn., Mildred Gembler of Orlando, Fl., Shirley and Jesse Silvers of Dalton, Ga., and Hazel Pangle Woody of Rocky Face, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Deloris Gazaway, Doyle and Kay Gazaway, Joan Gazaway, Harold Gazaway, Graig Gazaway, and Waymon and Eva Gazaway, all of Dalton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jewell Edna Gazaway Pilcher will be held Wednesday morning, July 30 at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Jimmy Harper officiating. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning until the service hour.
