The U.S. has only one political party. It is the Republican Party.
Oh, they let the Dems in once in a while just to let the " Repubs" rest up. The dominance of the party is not a bunch of boot kickers or even a bunch of boot lickers.
Politics works in this country. We know how to govern and further we get life for all of us better.
Government is a business.. Each Congressman or senator has a staff the size of a small business, which it is. The U.S. and the world of the settled have tried different forms of governing.. There is only one right way - people sending representatives to government to serve the needs of the supporters.
Do other parties actually matter?

From Mr. Bob Brooks:
“The U. S. has only one political party. That is the Republican Party
Oh, they (the Republican Party) let the Dems in once in a while just to let the " Repubs" rest up.”
Really? While Trump won the Electoral College count, how can it be even reasonably stated that the Republican Party is the only Party when Trump did not receive the majority of the popular vote? That’s just one of multiple examples of the fallacies of Mr. Brooks letter that he (and the Republicans) seek to foist upon the reader.
Mr. Brooks says “Politics works in this country. We know how to govern and further we get life for all of us better.”
No. We have lost the ability to govern nationally. The national Republican leader is a convicted felon, motivated by the almighty dollar and personal revenge. Unfortunately, the national Democratic Party appears leaderless. Government has become the “bloodsport” Newt Gingrich conceived in 1978.
The word compromise has been replaced with intransigence. The Republicans began the intransigence during the Obama Administration. Should anyone care to point out intransigence by Democrats, he or she is definitively rebutting Mr. Brooks’ argument of only one Party. How can a Party that does not exist be intransigent?
As for “Government is a business”, would you buy stock in the U.S. Government today? A business is incorporated for the purpose of making a profit, unless intending to be a non-profit, as is the United Way, The American Red Cross, Habitat For Humanity (remember Democratic President Jimmy Carter’s efforts?) or Feed The Children.
I suspect you would not buy U.S. Government stock for your retirement. Is it profitable? Only once since 1960, during the Democratic Clinton Administration. Do revenues (taxes) exceed costs (appropriations), resulting in a profit? Do financial ratios support the Government as an ongoing business?
No. One need only look at the $trillions in debt, growing annually.
Mr. Brooks asks “Do other parties actually matter?”
How can there be any checks or balances between Congress and the Presidency without another Party? Without another Party attempting to check either branch, who’s to say that the Republican Party today will not become the National Socialists German Workers’ Party (albeit a tragic misnomer) of the 1930s?
I’d predict that human nature being what it is, even a sole Republican Party would eventually succumb to greed and hate, breaking apart over money and social well-being into Parties. The income gap widens, the middle class is squeezed out, and “he who has the money rules.” And so would the Democrats if the sole Party.
Yes, Mr. Brooks. Other Parties matter significantly if the U.S. is to remain a Democratic-Republic, and reclaim its position as the brightest beacon of democracy in the world.
