Sewanee On All-SCAC Soccer Teams

Scott Polancich & Anne Louise Cranwell

Sewanee, Tenn.) -- The University of the South soccer players Scott Polancich and Anne Louise Cranwell have been selected to the men's and women's soccer All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference first teams announced Tuesday Nov. 16 by the SCAC office.

Polancich, a junior from Lexington, Ky.,(Henry Clay High School) is a three-time first team all-SCAC player and is the only male player with a unanimous selection on this year's all-star squad. Polancich led the conference in points per match (1.95), tied for first with 37 points, tied for second with 11 assists and second with 13 goals. He had four match-winning goals during the season for the Tigers. Polancich joins Chris Cairns ('92-'93-'94) and Clayton Haden ('94-'95-'96) as Sewanee players who have earned first team All-SCAC honors three times.

Second team honors went to Sewanee sophomore forward Ryan Davis (8 goals, 7 assists) and freshman midfielder Chris Wooster (1 goal, 4 assists).

Cranwell, a freshman/midfielder from Signal Mountain who graduated from St. Andrews-Sewanee, had five goals, two assists and 12 points on the season. She was one of two freshman (the other was Stephanie Benning, Hendrix) on the first team.

Second team honors went to Sewanee junior midfielder Linda Millikan (3 goals, 5 assists) and sophomore forward Cathy Schmidt (5 goals, 3 assists). Sewanee coaches - Matt Kern (men) and Margot Burns (women) each received one vote in the coach-of-the-year balloting. Coaches-of-the-Year were Paul McGinlay (men) of Trinity and John Carter (women) of DePauw.
