Mary Ann From Gilligan's Island To Appear At Gatlinburg Toy Show

  • Friday, September 19, 2003

GATLINBURG, TN – Dawn Wells, “Mary Ann” from Gilligan’s Island, will be in Gatlinburg on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Sunday, Oct. 5.

Ms. Wells will be appearing at Adventure Con III, Tennessee’s largest toy show with over 400 tables of toys, comics and dolls held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, Gatlinburg Parkway, Gatlinburg to sign autographs and meet with fans.

Ms. Wells, the former Miss Nevada, was cast as “Mary Ann Summers,” a sweet naive country girl from Winfield, Kansas in the popular television series “Gilligan’s Island” that ran on CBS from 1964 to 1967.

She repeated the role in the late 70’s and early 80’s in three highly successful TV reunion movies, “Rescue From Gilligan’s Island,” “The Castaways On Gilligan’s Island,” and “The Harlem Globetrotters On Gilligan’s Island.”

However, there is so much more to Dawn than Mary Ann. Not only has she done over 60 theatrical productions from Neil Simon to Tennessee Williams, but also over 120 television shows, as well as a number of feature films.

In addition to her busy life, Dawn has established the Dawn Wells' Film Actors Boot Camp near Jackson Hole, Wy., where in one intense week during the summer, actors learn the art of Acting On Camera as well as the business of the film industry. And even though she's in constant demand for personal appearance and speaking engagements, Dawn found time to create a line of clothing for the physically challenged called the Wishing Wells Collection.

Other television and movie stars scheduled for the event include Jeremy Bulloch, the popular Boba Fett in the “Star Wars” movies; George Lazenby, who’s most famous for his portrayal of “James Bond” in the 1969 film “On Her Majesty's Secret Service;” Yvonne Craig, who played “Batgirl” in the “Batman” television series and co starred with Elvis Presley in two the Kings’ films; Dick Warlock, best known for his role as the psychotic murderer “Michael Myers” from “Halloween II;” and Danielle Harris, who played “Jamie Lloyd” in “Halloween IV” and “Halloween V” and known to her younger fans as the voice of “Debbie Thornberry" from the popular “Rugrats” series.

The convention will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.

Admission is $6 per day, children six and under free with a paying adult.
