Coming to Chattanooga this week is the Tennessee Porcelain Artists’ Convention to be held at the Choo-Choo Convention Center. This year’s theme is “Things of Beauty, Joy Forever.”
The public is invited to come and enjoy this national event. There will be many artists displaying a wide variety of porcelain wares such as plates, vases, tea sets, and lamps in an array of unique painting styles and techniques with featured guest artist Barbara Ramsey-Snow.
There will also be vendors selling products and supplies.
Throughout each day there will be demonstrations of china painting and other kiln-fired techniques.
Local china painting teacher and Convention Chairman Claudia Moss says, “We are fortunate to have this convention here this year. It is only the fourth time that it has come to Chattanooga. We hope the public will come by and enjoy the multitude of artists who have come to display and sell their work.”
Mrs. Moss has been involved in china painting for 34 years herself and says that it not only keeps her active but has provided her with a host of friends which share her love for this art form.
“It has also been an avenue for me to create heirlooms for my children and grandchildren. I refer to it as Eternal Art,” says Mrs. Moss.
There is no admission charge to attend the convention. The event will be April 22-24 at the Choo-Choo Convention Center on Market Street.
Thursday hours will be 1-5 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
