Hutcheson Medical Center Welcomes New EMS Director

Scott Radeker has joined as a director for the EMS team at Hutcheson.

Originally from Asheville, N.C., Radeker received his Associate of Science Degree, in Emergency Medical Science from Buncombe Community College. He also received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College. He will receive his Masters of Science in Health Administration at the University of St. Francis in April.

An EMT Paramedic for 24 years, Mr. Radeker has also been actively involved in both air and ground-based EMS management for 17 years. In his hometown of Ashville, Mr. Radeker discovered his passion for flying, and was one of the original start-up crewmembers for Memorial Mission Hospital (now Mission/St.Joseph’s Hospital) air medical program.

In August, 1988, he moved to Chattanooga to help start Erlanger’s Life Force program. He was also able to make the “first” patient flight for the program in December, 1988. He left Life Force as the Director of Pre-hospital Services in 2001, but saw Erlanger grow from a single helicopter program to two helicopters, a complete ground based ambulance program and a regional communications center (Chattanooga MedComm).

After leaving Life Force he transferred to T.C. Thompson’s Children Hospital at Erlanger, where he was director of the Neonatal Transport Program, Children’s Respiratory Care, and implemented the EMS for Children’s Standard’s Program.

Mr. Radeker currently resides in Ringgold with his wife Theresa, his son Doug, and his daughter Ellie. He enjoys working in the yard, aviation, and anything he can do with his family.
