Kim Chapman
WTVC NewsChannel 9 announced Tuesday that veteran television anchor-reporter Kim Chapman has been promoted to a primary anchor position at WTVC NewsChannel 9, joining Bob Johnson, Calvin Sneed, Neal Pascal and Darrell Patterson "as a part of the most experienced local anchor team in the Chattanooga market."
Kim Chapman’s promotion fills the vacancy left by the death of MaryEllen Locher two months ago.
“We called on Kim at a difficult time when we asked her to fill in during MaryEllen’s illness, and she handled that assignment with poise and authority,” said Tom Henderson, WTVC News Director.
During her 10 years as a television journalist, Kim has developed a reputation for accuracy, fairness and compassion, he said.
“It is our job, our responsibility to find the stories that are important to the community, and tell each one accurately, without fail. It's so important to earn the trust of our viewers,” she said.
“Kim's professionalism and the dedication she has demonstrated during her time here at NewsChannel 9 are a plus not only for this station but for this community. We are fortunate to have her as a key member of the Tennessee Valley's number one news team,” said Mike Costa, WTVC Vice President and General Manager.
Kim Chapman has won several Associated Press awards, and has been nominated for an Emmy. She is a board member for the Epilepsy Foundation of America, an officer in the Southeast Tennessee Epilepsy Foundation, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She graduated from West Georgia College and has reported across the Southeast from Rome, Ga., to Jacksonville, Fla.
