Mount Vernon Mills made a donation to the Northwestern Technical College Foundation on Monday. Northwestern Technical College received a $1,500 donation from Mount Vernon Mills in Trion, Ga. Northwestern Technical College is celebrating its fortieth year of educating the people of Chattooga, Catoosa, Dade, and Walker Counties.
"They've been very supportive of our efforts over the years to educate our neighbors across North Georgia," said Dr. Ray Brooks, President of Northwestern Technical College. The Walker County-based campus first opened its doors in the fall of 1966.
On hand at the presentation were Jason Gamel, Northwestern Technical College Director of College Development, Brooks; Gary Branton, Mount Vernon Mills Plant Manager, and Jeff King, Northwestern Technical College Vice-President of Administrative Services.
"We are excited about this gift which will go towards our community annual fund drive," said Gamel. "We are hoping to find other partners, like Mount Vernon Mills, who are so vital to Northwestern and to our community."
More than 2,300 students from across Northwest Georgia and the Tennessee Valley are currently enrolled at Northwestern Technical College. The school is currently on holiday break and classes for the winter quarter will begin on Jan. 4.
