TWRA Officer Disciplined

  • Monday, August 28, 2006

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Officer Dale Grandstaff from Montgomery County faces a five-day suspension after authorities say he allowed two of his counterparts from Arkansas to hunt turkey without a license in Tennessee.

Grandstaff also must pay the state about $950 in unpurchased hunting licenses.

In at least one instance Grandstaff hunted with the two Arkansas officers.

The illegal hunting took place in and around Montgomery County.

One of the Arkansas officers was allowed to hunt without a license -- sometimes with his father -- for three years. The other officer hunted without a license just this year.

Both men admitted hunting illegally and have been disciplined as well.

Grandstaff says he'll accept his punishment from the TWRA
without appeal.

The agency says he has been an exemplary employee until this
problem.
