The McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center is sponsoring a Love Your Pet: Spay or Neuter coloring contest as part of local Spay Day USA activities. Contest winners will receive a visit from Harry, the Center’s SpokesDog, plus an ice cream party for their class. A humane educator will accompany Harry and provide the class with a special Critters with Character program about responsible pet care.
The contest is open to all Hamilton County elementary school children in grades K-5. Winners will be chosen in two grade levels: K-2 and 3-5. Completed entries must be received by Feb. 28 and winners will be announced March 5. Official contest coloring sheets are available for download at www.mckameyanimalcenter.org.
Spay Day USA will be observed on Feb. 27 as part of a national campaign to recognize the importance of spaying and neutering to end the pet over-population problem. As a strong advocate of spaying and neutering, the McKamey Center is conducting several local activities, including the coloring contest, as part of the national Spay Day promotion. When the McKamey Center opens later this year, every animal will be sterilized prior to adoption to help prevent needless suffering, reduce the pet over-population problem and ease tax payer burden for the citizens of Chattanooga.
