  • Sunday, December 2, 2007

Calvin Newton will be singing at the Falling Water Church of God, 6534 Old Dayton Pike, in Hixson, at 10:45 a.m., on Sunday, Dec. 9.

At 78, Calvin Newton has been singing Gospel music for more than 60 years. Church officials said he sounds as good today as he did 50 years ago.

He is a member of the Gaither Homecoming Family, appearing on many of the Gaither videos. He has been inducted into the GMA Hall of Fame, both as a member of the Blackwood Brothers and the Oak Ridge Boys, and was presented the Living Legend Award by the Grand Old Gospel Reunion in 2000. He has been a member of the Blackwood Brothers and Oak Ridge Boys.

He said that by far the most outstanding group, in every respect, he was ever privileged to be a part of, was the Sons of Song. He feels blessed immeasurably to be able to still be singing for the Lord at this time of his life.

All are welcome to join the members of Falling Water as they welcome this talented performer into their church home.
