Frances Folkner Newby, 80, of Hixson, died on Thursday, February 22, 2007.
Mrs. Newby was a lifelong resident of Hixson. She was a graduate of Hixson High School and retired from K-Mart. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Frances loved her home and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, A. J. "Red" Newby; parents, Myrtle and Porter L Folkner, Sr.; her brother, Porter L. Folkner, Jr.; and her sister, Hazel Delaney.
Frances is survived by her children, Leonard C. (Connie) Newby of Lawrence, Ks., Peggy Newby Buckner of Hixson, and R. Steve (Martha) Newby of Red Bank; six grandchildren, Tami Castelow, Christina Fiebich, Jesse Newby, Jason Buckner, Rachel Ricley and Deborah Newby; seven great-grandchildren and many wonderful loving friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Harold Newby officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Monday at 11:30 a.m.
The family will receive friends from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. on Saturday and from 1–3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Cancer Center, 2525 DeSales Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
