Sherman L. Blevins, 67, of New Hope, Tn., died on Monday, December 8, 2008 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
The son of the late Luther Benjamin and Bertha Lillian Hogan Blevins, he was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Ironworkers Local #704.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Blevins, two sons, Curtis (Judy) Blevins and Maston (Evelyn) Blevins, all of New Hope, three daughters, Tonja (LaDon) Kennedy of Soddy-Daisy, Tammy Echegaray, of Kimball, and Cindy Blevins of New Hope; grandchildren, Summer Peoples, Drew Blevins, Josh Echegaray, Derek Blevins, Jonathon Blevins, Cheyann Blevins, and Dakota Blevins, one great-grandchild, Coy Hackney; seven brothers, Houston Blevins of Fort Payne, Al., Wendell Blevins, Stanley Blevins, Johnny Blevins, Fred Blevins, Doug Blevins, and Greg Blevins, all of New Hope; four sisters, Wilma Mashburn of Bridgeport, Al., Carolyn Scissom, Barbara Powers, and Diane Massengale, all of New Hope, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg at 1 p.m. CDT on Friday, with Rev. Arland Weldon officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-9 p.m., and on Thursday from 1-9 p.m.
