Northwest Georgia Bank has named Assistant Vice President Stacie Phillips as manager of the North Shore branch in Chattanooga. She has worked since last July as assistant vice president and assistant branch manager of the Fort Oglethorpe branch.

Set to open this fall, the new branch at Two North Shore on Manufacturers Road is targeted for LEED Silver Certification and will be the first LEED-Certified, or ‘green,’ bank building in Tennessee, according to officials at the U.S. Green Building Council.

“We can’t wait to join the neighborhood and provide the kind of civic support and naturally friendly service that we’ve been giving customers and community for more than a century,” Ms. Phillips said. “With its LEED Silver Certification and ‘green’ features, this branch fits in perfectly with the North Shore community and the city’s environmental and planning efforts. It’s really exciting to step up our involvement in Chattanooga’s renaissance.”

Ms. Stacie joined Northwest Georgia Bank in June 2006 as assistant vice president-assistant branch manager of the Financial Centre on Battlefield Parkway in Catoosa County. In 2007, she moved to the Fort Oglethorpe branch.

Prior to joining the Bank, she worked for more than 12 years with SunTrust Bank in Chattanooga, in the Private Banking and Wealth & Investment Management Departments.

A 1986 graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1991 from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She holds Series 7 and 63 Securities licenses. She is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Chattanooga.

Ms. Phillips serves on the board for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of East Tennessee. She is a past board member and treasurer of Chattanooga Room in the Inn, and has served as a volunteer for Junior Achievement and the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the Catoosa County Chamber's Legislative and Partners in Education Committees.

Ms. Phillips lives in Ringgold with her husband, Vince, and daughter, Avery.

Northwest Georgia Bank has named Sammy George, former Clear Channel Chattanooga market manager and general manager of WUSY-FM 100.7, as vice president-new development.

Under his leadership, US-101 earned nine Country Music Association Station of the Year awards, one Academy of Country Music Station of the Year honor, five CMA Personality of the Year awards, a Marconi award and the Crystal Award for Community Service from the National Association of Broadcasters, among other national awards and recognitions. US-101 has been the top-rated station in the Chattanooga market for 18 consecutive years.

“I’m excited and humbled to join Wes and Scott Smith’s team at Northwest,” Mr. George said. “Our core beliefs are the same — win friends and customers with exceptional service while staying focused on helping and developing the communities we serve.”

Raised in West Blocton, Al., Mr. George started his career in broadcasting in 1965 as a high school reporter on the new radio station in Centreville, Al. where he caught the radio bug. He graduated from the Georgia School of Radio & TV Broadcasting in 1966 and signed up for the Marine Corps, where he served until 1970, including one tour in Vietnam.

He joined Talton Broadcasting in Selma, Ala. in 1970, earning general manager in 1973. Five years later, he went to work in sales for Colonial Broadcasting in Montgomery, Al., who owned one of the first FM country music radio stations in the nation, WLWI. Mr. George became general manager in 1984, and in 1986, he transferred to US-101 as general manager.

Much of his civic involvement has centered on raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, while also supporting hundreds of other local charities over his more than 40-year career in broadcasting.

Mr. George lives in Ooltewah with his wife, Shelia. They have one son, Lucas, and attend Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison.
