Flooding And The New Lee Highway Food City

  • Tuesday, May 13, 2025

We have been complaining about the potential for flooding in our neighborhood since Food City first started planning the new store on Lee Highway.

Today, we got a taste of of flooding. The drainage system from our neighborhood empties into the Food City property. We have been complaining they they did not properly plan for drainage, which would cause a backup into our neighborhood. Our photos are proof that this has not happened.

Food City has not been cooperative at all since they began planning.

There are at least three of us who sustained structural damage to our homes and personal property damage as a result of this flooding. It also flooded Vaden Drive and Lee Highway.
