Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will hold a series of special Memorial Day weekend programs to be conducted at Chickamauga Battlefield Friday through Monday.
All programs begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center, which will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday - Monday
10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - Car Caravan Tour of Chickamauga Battlefield
Join a Park Ranger for a 90-minute car caravan tour covering the highlights of the Battle of Chickamauga.
Saturday
Bicycle Tour - 9:30 a.m.
Join a park ranger on a seven-mile bicycle tour of Chickamauga Battlefield. This two hour tour will be conducted on primarily flat battlefield roads. Bicycle helmets are required for all participants. Outdoor Chattanooga has 10 bicycles and helmets available for visitors. Reservations for bicycles are required, and can be made by calling (706) 866-9241.
Living History Talks
9:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 3:45 p.m.
Come learn from a Civil War Soldier as he tells about his motivation, training, combat experience, and hardships. These 30 minute talks are held outside the Visitor Center.
Chickamauga Battlefield “Pyramids” Tour - 2 p.m.
On Sept. 19 and 20, 1863 in the fields and woods near Chickamauga Creek, over 4,000 Americans would die during the Battle of Chickamauga. Among the 4,000 killed were eight Brigade Commanders, four Confederate and four Federal. Join a park ranger on this two hour driving tour, which includes the sites where these officers fell and the stories of their heroic actions.
