Supt. Jim Scales announced new principals at Ooltewah High School, Ooltewah Middle School and East Ridge High School next year.
Effective July 1, Mark Bean will be principal at Ooltewah High School. Mr. Bean, currently principal at East Ridge High School, replaces Mr. Ed Foster, who is retiring this year.
Brent Eller will be principal at Ooltewah Middle School beginning July 1. Mr. Eller, currently an assistant principal at Loftis Middle School, will replace Margaret Abernathy, who was recently promoted to director of exceptional education.
Ron Peck, currently assistant principal at Hixson High School, will become principal of East Ridge High School effective July 1. He replaces Mr. Bean who is moving to Ooltewah High School.
“Mr. Bean, Mr. Eller and Mr. Peck rose to the top of our selection process with their focus on instruction and their dedication to helping students succeed,” Dr. Scales said. “I know they will work with their communities to continue the traditions of quality and excellence in Ooltewah and East Ridge.”
Mark Bean – Mr. Bean began his career in education as a science teacher at Ooltewah High School in 1982. In 2000, he moved to Central High School as an assistant principal. He stayed there until 2005 when he was named principal of East Ridge High School. Mr. Bean holds a bachelors of science degree and masters of education degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
Brent Eller – Mr. Eller began his career as a social studies teacher at Howard School of Academics and Technology in 1998. He moved to Hixson Middle School in 2002 before becoming an assistant principal at East Ridge Middle School in 2004. He moved to Brown Middle School as assistant principal in 2005 and then Loftis Middle School in 2006. He holds a bachelors of science degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a masters of education degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University.
Ron Peck – Mr. Peck, who graduated from East Ridge High School, began his career in Ringgold, GA in 1977 as a teacher at Ringgold Middle School. He moved to Fortune Grammar School in LaFayette in 1979 and then LaFayette Middle School in 1980. From 1988 to 2007 he was principal of six different schools, all in North Georgia. He retired as principal of Ridgeland High School in 2007 before coming to Hamilton County as an assistant principal at Hixson High School. He holds a bachelors of science in education from Middle Tennessee State University, a masters of education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an educational specialist degree from Jacksonville State University.
