The Advisory Council on Traffic Safety will host their quarterly meeting with guest speakers Scott and Jennifer Dobler. The meeting will be held on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at Wally’s Restaurant in East Ridge.
Mr. and Ms. Dobler of Chattanooga are the coordinators of Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving School. The Doblers and the Chattanooga Region Sports Car Club of America have been working with the Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving School since December 2007.
The goal of the program is to teach teens to be safer, more defensive drivers.
Tire Rack Street Survival is a national driver education program that teaches teens the skills they need to stay alive behind the wheel. Unlike traditional novice driver education programs based on classroom theory and simple maneuvers, the Teen Street Survival program improves driver competence through hands-on experiences in real-world driving situations. Teenagers learn from knowledgeable driving instructors how their actions govern a car’s responses, what the limits of their vehicles are, and how to avoid accidents entirely. Unlike other advanced driving schools, students use their own vehicles so the skills they learn can be directly translated to their own daily driving experiences. They teach teens what to do and not to do in panic situations in wet and dry conditions.
