The cadets of the 2010 Chattanooga Police Academy experienced first-hand what it feels like to be tasered. They assembled Tuesday at the Police Services Center to practice Taser deployment and to conduct a practical exercise on the effects of the Taser X26, which is used by the department as a pain compliance tool.
Each cadet practiced proper Taser deployment and target accuracy as well as removal of the device after deployment. Afterwards, instructors from the academy conducted controlled hits to each cadet so that they were able to experience the tool and how it affects the body’s muscular system.
The cadets will undergo training for use of the Oleo Resin Spray (pepper spray) on Friday.
