County To Act On Unkempt Yard At Foreclosed Property

  • Thursday, December 9, 2010

County Commission members indicated they plan to vote next Wednesday for the county to step in and clean up a foreclosed property at 9865 Stone Mist Lane in East Brainerd.

David Norton, assistant county attorney, said it is one of the many foreclosed properties around the county that have become rundown.

He said the grass is high at this location and it is causing a problem with mosquitoes, rats, etc.

The property is a deteriment to neighbors, he said.

Attorney Norton said the county highway department should be able to clean up the lot in a few hours.

He said the county will place an assessment against the house for the cleanup cost and will seek to collect it when the property is closed.
