Rev. Roland “Shorty” Keith, 82, of Rossville, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
He was born in Fort Payne, Al., to the late J. A. and Carrie Ethel Keith, and was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Paul, Chester, Marvin Keith, Louise Clark, and son-in-law, Clifton Middlebrooks.
Shorty worked for Signal Mountain Recycling Center for 13 years, and served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith where he ministered and sang gospel music.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Hazel Keith of Rossville, children, Lisa Middlebrooks, Ronnie (Sandy) Keith, Mike (Jen) Keith, all of Rossville, Peggy (Billy) Carr, of Cookeville, Tn., Faye Goins of Chickamauga, brother, J.C. Keith of Chickamauga, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 2, in the chapel with Reverends Hershel Greeson, Harold Helton, Sean Landes officiating. Interment will follow Lakewood Memory Gardens-South.
His family will receive friends after 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, and prior to the service on Friday.
