La Paz Chattanooga hosts its third annual Sangria on the Southside fundraising event to benefit Chattanooga’s Latino community on Friday, May 6.
Members of the Chattanooga community are invited to experience Latin culture – truly diverse and rich with history and traditions, as demonstrated by professional flamenco dance group, Caló Gitano, who is returning for the third consecutive year to perform at Sangria on the Southside.
“Sangria on the Southside is a fantastic event, and…our flamenco shows feel more like a party with old friends than just a flamenco show,” said Malita Belloso, lead dancer and co-founder of the company. “The opportunity for our group to support La Paz in its essential community service has always made our trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga worthwhile. We are just honored to be able to do our part to help to make Sangria on the Southside the successful and special event that it deserves to be.”
Sangria on the Southside offers a display of Latin flare in homemade Mexican cuisine provided by Eunice Mendoza, fresh sangria and beer (Corona and Modelo Especial), traditional dancing, music and more.
A silent auction will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. featuring local and international items. Local DJ standouts, DJK7 and Flux308, will wrap up the night playing Latin dance music for the crowd.
Tickets to the event can be purchased for $30 online at sangriaonthesouthside.org or by calling 624-8414.
“Sangria on the Southside gives the Chattanooga community an opportunity to get together to enjoy and celebrate Latin culture,” said Laurie Stevens, Communications and Development coordinator at La Paz. “It’s right here in our back yard; all we have to do is be aware.”
