Ruby Sanders
Ruby Atkinson Sanders, 101, died on Monday, May 30, 2011, surrounded by her family.
She was born January 6, 1910 in Statham, Ga., to the late Alex and Fannie Atkinson. She confessed Christ and joined Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church where she was on the Stewardess Board and faithful attendee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Fannie Atkinson; husband, Mose Sanders; sisters, Moena Parks, Geneva Featherstone, Eva Johnson, Addie Mathis; brothers, Eunice Sorrell, Grelly Atkinson, Albert Atkinson and Tommy Atkinson.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Bailey and Ingria Greer; son, Aaron (Jeanne) Atkinson Sr., all of Chattanooga; grandsons, Aaron (Natesa) Atkinson Jr., Loren Atkinson, Landon Atkinson and Cedric Vance, all of Chattanooga, Tn.; Alex D. Atkinson of Nashville, and Shannon Atkinson of Portland, Or.; granddaughters, Alicia Terry of Omaha, Ne.; Yolanda Jones of Thomasville, Ga., and Pretoria Winston of Huntsville, Ala.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Wesley Chapel Christian Community Church, 1813 Wilson Street with Elder Alex D. Atkinson, Eulogist and Rev. H.H. Wright officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, June 3, with the family receiving friends from 7�8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
