Life Care Centers of America, a nationwide skilled nursing and rehab company, appointed David Craig as vice president of its Eastern Division.

That announcement was made by Chris Mitchell, chief operating officer, who said Mr. Craig began his new duties on July 11.

“David brings a wealth of long-term care experience and is an exceptional leader,” said Mr. Mitchell. “He is a caring and compassionate leader with a heart for the mission and a passion for exceeding the expectations of our residents and their families. He will quickly earn the respect and support of his new team in the Eastern Division. Our residents, their families and our associates will respond to his positive leadership style, and all will benefit from his dedication and commitment to their well-being.”

Mr. Craig most recently served as regional director of operations for Grace Healthcare, Inc., in Chattanooga, where he was responsible for operations in 10 nursing facilities. Prior to that appointment, he was administrator at Signature HealthCARE of Gainesville, Fla.

“It has long been my vision to provide resident care at the highest level,” said Mr. Craig. “I am very blessed to be appointed to this position and am grateful to be able to serve the company, its associates and, most importantly, its residents in this capacity.”

Starting as director of patient referrals at Vencor Hospital (now Kindred Hospital) in Chattanooga, Mr. Craig has worked in long-term care services since 1992. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and has also served in operations, sales and marketing roles.

He has served the Tennessee Health Care Association as the Knoxville District treasurer and has been a member of the organization’s public relations, member services and government relations committees. He currently sits on the THCA board of directors.

Mr. Craig earned his master’s degree in health services administration from The College of St. Frances in Joliet, Ill., and his bachelor’s degree in finance from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

Mr. Craig and his wife, Sherry, have lived in Cleveland for 18 years. They have four children, 25-year-old Kari, 21-year-old Carson, 17-year-old Connor and 13-year-old Caleb.

The Eastern Division office is located next to Life Care Centers of America’s corporate offices on Keith Street in Cleveland.
