Bill Francis Guest
Bill Francis Guest, 69, of Chattanooga, died at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 16, 2011.
Mr. Guest was born in Gadsden, Ala., on May 17, 1942. Bill graduated from the University of Northern Alabama and received his Juris Doctorate from Samford Law School. He was employed with the CIA in Washington, D.C., for two years and served as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army.
He practiced law in Chattanooga for almost 40 years.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, attorney and humanitarian. He was an avid reader and loved to share his books. His willingness to help others is well known and far reaching. He left the world a better place, which is a wonderful tribute to the person he was.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Evelyn Guest; and stepmother, Bobbie Guest.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Thompson Guest; son, Zachary Francis (Suzanne) Guest of Nashville; grandson, Maddux Francis Guest of Nashville; sisters, Rebecca Guest of Pearland, Tx., and Deborah Guest of Norfolk, Va.; aunts, Virginia Harkins of Huntsville, Ala., and Laquita Huff of Atlanta; uncle, James Grindstaff of Bent Mountain, Va.; cousin, Donald Morton of Huntsville; nieces, Gwendolyn Johnson of Norfolk, Va., Jenny Giles of Pearland, Tx., Teague Monger of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Adrienne Moyer of Chattanooga; nephews, Jesse Giles of Pearland, Tx. and Charlie Monger of Raleigh, N.C.; mother-in-law, Azalene Teague of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Karen(Ronnie) Monger of Mocksville, N.C.; brother-in-law, Barry Teague of Chattanooga.
Bill’s family would like to thank all of his friends, neighbors, colleagues, and health care providers who have given him and Paula support during his illness. Special thanks to Dr. Jack Kennedy for his home visits, Stormi Rogers for her care throughout his illness and Barry Teague for his constant help and support.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 23, at the Northside Presbyterian Church at 4:30 p.m. with Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck conducting the service and Jerry Summers will speak.
Visitation will be held at the church starting at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
