Volunteered For Many Years With Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

Jean D. Bruewer, 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Monday, January 28, 2013.  

She was born in Middletown, Ohio on November 30, 1930 to the late Charles and Grace Long.  

Mrs. Bruewer was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chattanooga, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she shared her beautiful servant’ s heart and her gentle spirit with her Memorial family for many years. She began her volunteer service in 1997 and served for 14 years donating 12,766 hours of faithful service. She served as Auxiliary president from 2001 to 2003 followed by serving as parliamentarian and secretary for many years.  Her tremendous faith guided her daily.  Her dedication to those she served, Memorial’s mission and ministry, her fellow volunteers, and her family was evident in all she did. She volunteered in the Patient Entrance Area and in the Volunteer and Foundation Offices at Memorial Hospital. 

She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Middletown Public High School in 1948.  She worked at the former Gardner Richardson Paper Company and Middletown City School Administration Office as a Bookkeeper.  She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Middletown, Ohio where she was a member of the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard (Barney) T. Bruewer; great-granddaughter, Kailee Gerlach; brother, Larry Long and longtime companion, Sam Isgro.

She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Zucconi of Chattanooga, and Mary Beth (Dr. Jamie Craven) of Chattanooga; son, Tim Bruewer (Becky) of Newbern, Tn.; seven grandchildren, Justin and Anna Zucconi, Rachael and Jamie Craven, Scott and Christopher Bruewer, Carrie Gerlach (Brent); two great-grandchildren,  Colson and Lucas Gerlach; sister, Marilyn Lambert (Jim) of Hamilton, Ohio; brother, Frank Long (Jeanne) of Middletown, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Long of Middletown, Ohio; extended family members, Steve (Judy) Isgro, Sam (Duwana)  Isgro, Tim (Anita) Isgro, David and Danny Isgro, all of Hamilton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating.  

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. 

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Hamilton, Ohio.
