Joe E.”Joey” Blevins Jr., of Guild, Tn., has been appointed to the Tennessee Associate State Partner leadership team for the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC).
Mr. Blevins, an established self-employed auto graphic designer and 42-year veteran OHV trailrider cites his active involvement in the Aetna Mountain OHV land use dispute for his passion to serve the greater OHV community cause. He said, “One day you wake up and realize that all you know and love is being taken away and you look around and wonder why somebody isn’t doing something…well, that somebody became me. I just couldn’t stand by and let something so important to our family be lost forever. I will do everything in my power to help create a positive future for OHV in Tennessee”.
Mr. Blevins took newly-elected state Senator Janice Bowling on a tour of the Aetna Mountain Road area and facilitated a discussion with local land owners that have been affected by the controversial land-use issue. Mr. Blevins has also been involved in statewide discussions on OHV self-funding legislation, TN public land-use and has performed extensive OHV user group outreach creating open dialog on local and statewide OHV issues and policy.
Mr. Blevins’ wife is Kathy Hairston Blevins, mother, Margie Blevins, siblings, Cathy Blevins, Caren Blevins and Dayna Blevins and brother, Tommy Blevins, daughters, Shelly Winston, Summer Blevins, Brandi Blevins and Emily Blevins, sons, Caleb Blevins and Kyle Henson, and four grandchildren, Eva, Ethan, Cayla and Izaiah.
Besides OHV riding, other hobbies include dancing, fishing and just enjoying life. Always safety-minded, Mr. Blevins lists getting Drivers Education back into the Marion County school system as one of his most notable public achievements.
