Tennessee Aquarium's AquaScarium Family Halloween Party To Have Unique Start This Year

Families who arrive early for the Tennessee Aquarium's AquaScarium VII Halloween party will get an extra special treat - the chance to see someone walk a line suspended between the Aquarium's peaks.

Local world-class highliner Edward Yates will rig lines of great heights on the Tennessee Aquarium peaks and then walk across them as a unique feature of RiverRocks 2014. Similar to tightrope walking, but accessible to anyone, slacklining and highlining are trending outdoor sports. Edward will safely execute this stunt in the common style of highlining and will be wearing a safety leash in case of fall. Yates will make his first attempt crossing between the peaks between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.

This cutting-edge spectacle will be repeated on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m.1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

This exciting highlining event begins an evening of family-friendly fun inside the Aquarium's two buildings.

Tiny goblins, and superheroes of all ages, are invited to come in costume with their favorite treat bag for this annual safe, yet spirited, Halloween party. This year’s event, which lasts from 6 to 9pm, includes a host of new activities and special appearances – from princesses and superheroes to mermaids and pirates.

As trick-or-treaters wind their way through both Aquarium buildings, a word puzzle scavenger hunt will lead them to a prize. Along the way, they will meet costumed Aquarium mascot Harry Otter and his friends. You never know who you might see inside the Nickajack Lake and River Giants exhibits as Aquarium SCUBA divers get into the Halloween spirit.

While nothing at AquaScarium VII should give kids a real scare, a magical snow queen and her snowman friend might just give little ones goose bumps! Some swashbuckling pirates along with Magellan, and colorful characters like Otis the Otter Spotter will also delight guests.

Kids can shake a leg on the Monster Mash dance floor, take a selfie on a special AquaScarium red carpet, and play fun Halloween games. The competition is turned up a notch as kids get a chance to win a trophy for best costume.

At the end of their night, Aquarium trick-or-treaters won’t just fill up on candy. They can also sample kettle corn and apple cider on the plaza.
