Lisa Warren
Due to the ongoing needs and thanks to the Maclellan Foundation, MetMin (Metropolitan Ministries) has hired Lisa Warren, MSW, to help with the stream of people who were displaced during the Superior Creek Lodge Crisis. To date, MetMin has permanently housed 47 families (90 adults, 82 children), at a cost of $62,000.
Ms. Warren, recent Southern Adventist University graduate, is a Chattanooga area native of 20 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College, and moved on to work for 17 years in the health care industry at Blue Cross Blue Shield, before returning to school three years ago for her masters in social work.
“My volunteer work made me passionate about social work,"s aid Ms. Warren. "The experience of doing my internship at MetMin helped me to become passionate about the agency and the work that they do for the community. I am excited for the opportunity to help out with the Superior Creek Lodge families. This is an opportunity and a blessing."
Ms. Warren currently lives in Ringgold with her husband Willie, and has four adult children.
“The MetMin staff has worked valiantly for six weeks to provide housing stability to the Superior Creek Lodge families," said Rebecca Whelchel, executive director of Metropolitan Ministries. "New families who’ve exhausted their own resources since Sept. 10 continue to emerge and seek stability. Lisa’s expertise and compassion make her the ideal person to help make sure that MetMin can continue its response to these families during the months ahead."
