Earl Courtney
Earl Gene Courtney, 85, of Rossville, died on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at his home.
A native and lifelong resident of the Rossville area, Mr. Courtney was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Marine Corp having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from Rossville Mills with more than 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Courtney was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Laura Mae Courtney, his wife, Betty Jo Courtney, sisters, Ella Rose Bartlett, Ann Patterson, and Margaret Durham, and brothers, Ernest, Carl, O.D. and James Courtney.
Survivors include his children, David Earl (Ramona) Piendl, Sonthofen, Germany, Milford Earl Courtney, Susan (Robert) Courtney Watkins, John Anthony Courtney, Lisa Ann Courtney Boone (Jim), Sherri Courtney Walker (Mike) and Jeannie Sue Barrett; step-children, James Lee (Mona) Coulter and Don Wayne (Terri) Coulter; grandchildren, Richard Ripper, Virginia Saucier, Robert Ford Watkins III, Rachel Elaine Watkins, Tabitha Barrett, Brian Anthony Courtney, Sandi Courtney and Aletha Nichole Coulter; brother, Dale Courtney; sisters, Inez Durham and Evenalle Vellan; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 12:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Ron Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
