Mark Making Founder and Art Director Frances McDonald, left, with new Executive Director Phyllis Mescon
Mark Making announced that Phyllis Mescon, a longtime fixture in Chattanooga’s non-profit, educational and corporate communities, has been named the organization’s executive director.
She has executive level experience at a variety of Chattanooga-area non-profit organizations including Chattanooga CARES, Hunter Museum of American Art and Girls Inc. of Chattanooga.
Ms. Mescon said, “I’m beyond thrilled to take on this new challenge of working with underserved populations. Mark Making has a six-year history of empowering those who have been marginalized by society. I look forward to expanding our presence, which will certainly benefit the entire Chattanooga community.”
Mark Making Board Chairman Erskine Oglesby, Jr. said, “Phyllis has an incredible wealth of talent, knowledge and energy that she brings to the table. I know that under her leadership, Mark Making will continue to thrive and increase our impact for underserved populations in Chattanooga.”
Frances McDonald, Mark Making founder and former executive director, has stepped into the new role of art director. The creation of this position enables Ms. McDonald to solely concentrate on expanding the scope and variety of their public art projects, it was stated.
According to Mark Making Board Member and recent Interim Executive Director Christa Mannarino, “Frances has the experience, dedication and passion for the Mark Making mission. As art director, Frances can focus her creative talents on extending Mark Making’s reach.”
