Pianist Joe Chapman Returns To Dalton State March 23

Joe Chapman will return to Dalton State College to perform time-honored favorites celebrating the life and music of George Gershwin on Monday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m.
Joe Chapman will return to Dalton State College to perform time-honored favorites celebrating the life and music of George Gershwin on Monday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m.

From “I Got Rhythm” to “Rhapsody in Blue,” concert pianist Joe Chapman will return to Dalton State College to perform time-honored favorites celebrating the life and music of George Gershwin on Monday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. 

The program will also include such well-known selections as “Strike Up the Band,” “Fascinating Rhythm,” and “Summertime,” along with highlights from the monumental “Concerto in F.” 

Mr. Chapman is the director of Keyboard Studies at the University of North Georgia where he also  serves as conductor of the UNG Orchestra. He holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the University of South Carolina.  

Mr. Chapman has served the music profession in a number of capacities including a term as president of the Georgia Music Teachers Association. The 2015 Evening with Gershwin Georgia 
concert tour includes performances in Jesup, Dalton, Douglas, Hawkinsville, Griffin, Americus and Dahlonega. 

“Joe is a great performer and the Dalton community thoroughly enjoys him and his talent,” said Amber Lesicko, assistant director of the Office of Student Life. “We are so excited to have him back at Dalton State.” 

This program is free and open to the public, and will be performed in the Goodroe Auditorium  of Gignilliat Memorial Hall. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
